• Are you involved in training or vocational assessment of the social care workforce? • If so, do you feel confident to train and assess others in this area with confidence?
Use of telecare and assistive technologies is increasing and plays an integral role in delivering efficient services across social care and health. As a result there are a number of qualification modules (QCF) dedicated to building knowledge and competence in this area across the workforce. There is currently a gap in the market for training and assessment in this area.

Half day training delivered by the NHSNYY Pharmacist Team. This training is available for care staff who are working with adults in the Private and Voluntary Sector.
Applicants must be from REGULATED Domiciliary Care Setting within NORTH YORKSHIRE; applicants from outside This training is NOT suitable for staff working in any of the following areas: Nursing home, Residential home, Adult respite, or any other care establishment setting. Skills for Care - Local Events Last updated 25//01/12
Skills for Care (the sector skills council for adult social care) and its local partners invite newly established social care providers, new managers or providers who have limited knowledge of Skills for Care to attend a free, interactive, half day event that aims to:
These events are specifically aimed at organisations providing social care including community, voluntary and faith organisations, social enterprises, community investment companies, small / micro employers, user led organisations and individual employers. All new managers or new social care organisations are most welcome.
Similar events will run eight times across Yorkshire and the Humber and the North East. Where possible please attend the venue closest to you.

Free E-Learning - Yorkshire and Humber Last updated 06//01/12 E-Learning Zone
North Yorkshire County Council's, Health and Adult Services (HAS), Workforce Development Unit (WDU) would like to draw your attention to the Yorkshire and Humber E-learning Zone. A free e-learning site for the Health and Social Care sector in the Yorkshire and Humber region. This Free e-Learning platform provides you with a range of Social Care courses which you can access from any computer, either at work or at home. Fully funded by the Yorkshire and Humber Joint Improvement Partnership (JIP), there are over 35,000 licenses available up until September 2012.
The first three programmes in the portfolio are:
Assistive Technology - This module will introduce you to some key elements of assistive technology and give you an overview of Telecare and Telehealth. Dementia - The course consists of 7 modules and provides a general introduction to the disease and the experience of living with dementia. Carer Awareness - This course consists of 2 modules about raising awareness of carers and carer issues. Coming soon - Building Community Capacity & End of Life
